Dear children,
We continued with the Chicken Food booklet today and completed many exercises. We discussed more about synonyms and prepositions before moving on to learn more about the demonstrative pronouns "this", "that", "these" and "those". Do you remember when and how to use each of them? Make some sentences with them and check with your parents!
We also discussed different sentences using "is" and "was" and talked about the different meanings of sentences made with them. Do the two sentences in each pair below mean different things? How so?
1a) Switzerland is a beautiful country.
1b) Switzerland was a beautiful country.
2a) The Merlion is a famous Singapore icon.
2b) The Merlion was a famous Singapore icon.
We then moved on to rearrange words to form sentences and questions. Which of the two sentences below is correct? What's wrong with the wrong one?
3a) Tom was grateful to the old lady for his help.
3b) The old lady was grateful to Tom for his help.
We tried a grammar cloze and an editing exercise too. Do you know how to spell "refrigerator" now? What about "ingredients"?
Try making more sentences with "accepted", "regretted" and "quarrelled" too. You will get better at it with more practice!
