29 May 14 (Thursday)

Dear children,

I'm looking forward to marking the compositions you wrote in class on your own today. For the second time this year, you did your own planning and writing without any help from anyone. You had fifty minutes to write this time and most of you completed your story way before time was up. We'll see how well you wrote. :)

Today marks the last day of service for the faithful and responsible leaders of P2/2 Joy. They have served the class well for the past 10 weeks and truly deserve the certificates of recognition given out to them.

Today also marks the end of our May competition. Once again, Seashell wins the Group of the Month award! Congratulations, Seashell! :)

Natalie, Jonathan and Richelle received their Level 3 certificates and prizes for winning the Group of the Month award for the third time this year, while Jenna received her Level 2 certificate and prizes! I hope to give out more coloured pens, scissors and erasable pens next term.

Amelie and Dylan received certificates of improvement for their hard work and great improvement in Math and English respectively. I hope all of us can see the two of them as good examples of children who keep on putting in effort and hard work! :)

To close this term, we filed our English and Math test papers and English compositions. Then, we ended the day with a farewell party for Jenna, who will be studying at a new school from next term onwards. It was a sad occasion for many of us because we will surely miss her. Still, let us wish Jenna all the best at her new school, where she will make many new friends and learn many new things!

Here are some photographs of the farewell party:

Here are today's reminders:

1) If you have not written a message for Jenna and would like to do so, click on this link: http://padlet.com/wongbengyu/22ToJenna

2) If you did not bring your I-Read book today but will be coming to school with your parents tomorrow for the Parent-Teacher Meeting, bring it tomorrow.

3) We have just one more day to go before the KooBits Champion Class Challenge closes. If you have not earned 100 Challenge Points, this is your last day to grab the rare chance. Work hard!

4) Remember Mdm Tien's instruction to log on to AskNLearn to vote for your favourite science toys and comment on them. The top three most 'liked' toys on AskNLearn will win prizes. You can also win a prize if your comment is one of the best three comments.

5) Show your parents the letter about HARP.

6) Show your parents the P2 reading list from National Library Board.

7) Please make sure you put the plastic sleeves into your HA Portfolio at home.

I will post the last blog entry for this term tomorrow evening. That will inform you about your holiday homework. It will also show you the ice-cream sticks scores for this month. Check back again tomorrow at 8 p.m..

Have an enjoyable evening with your family! :)

28 May 14 (Wednesday)

Dear children,

We gave out the Hildan MOST Awards for this term today. Here are the winners:

Sincere Hildan: Dawn
Responsible Hildan: Jonathan
Humble Hildan: Raeann
Wise Hildan: Elijah
Inquiring Hildan: David

Congratulations to the winners! :)

I hope we can all take these five children as good examples. May we all continue to work towards being sincere, responsible, humble and wise, and may we never stop learning!

With the little time we had together, we did an art quiz and completed the final corrections for the Chicken Food booklet.

Here are today's announcements and reminders:

1) Bring your I-Read book tomorrow and return it to me. This is to prepare for next term's I-Read book exchange. We will be exchanging the box of books that we have with another class.

2) You will be filing your recent compositions in the red composition file tomorrow. If you brought home your compositions for further re-corrections today, bring them back tomorrow.

3) We have just 2 more days to go for the KooBits Champion Class Challenge. If you still have not hit the target of 100 Challenge Points, continue working hard!

4) Tomorrow is the deadline for the colouring contest and the innovation contest. If you are a contestant, please remember to submit what you have to.

See you tomorrow for our last day of Term 2! :)

27 May 2014 (Tuesday)

Dear children,

We applauded Jenna, Janine and Isaac this afternoon for having read their 50th HARP book and getting their badges. That's excellent! I hope many more of you can get the badge soon too!

We received the "Yes We CAN" award today from Mrs Chong for having one of the cleanest, most attractive and neatest classrooms in P2. I'm happy that we got the award, and I agree that our classroom is attractive. However, I don't really think it is clean or neat enough. Let's work on keeping our own spaces, tables and chairs clean and tidy.

We gave out the KooBits Badges for this semester today. Zhi Zong, Elijah, Jenna, Natalie, Brian and Seth have worked very hard for the past three months to earn the Genius Badge. Brian and Seth have gone even further to earn the Mathematician Badge too! I certainly hope that all of you can earn these two badges by next semester!

We learnt to create patterned artwork using PowerPoint during your computer/art lesson with Mr Edwin. Many of you produced really creative artwork! Here are some photographs of you hard at work:

We played with fraction discs during math and learnt to compare fractions. If we have two fractions and their numerators are both 1, how can we tell which of the two fractions is bigger? Share your answer with your parents! :)

Here are today's reminders:

1) If you received your Chinese Opera Writing Package and/or your Food Fit For A King composition from me today, please work on the re-corrections and submit them tomorrow. I expect perfect re-corrections. Check your work. There can be no excuses for mistakes in re-corrections.

2) If you did not bring your I-Read book today, remember to bring it tomorrow and pass it to your friend before Silent Reading time.

3) Remember to bring your Conversational Malay book for your lesson tomorrow.

Have a blessed evening with your parents! :)
