30 June 14 (Monday)

Dear children,

I hope you enjoyed your first day back at school. Today was an exciting day for many of us as we welcomed our new friend, Sheena, to our class! I hope that we can get to know each other better in the next few months.

We regrouped today and appointed our new class leaders. Here's the new seating arrangement and the list of leaders for this term:

This is the cleanliness duty schedule for this term:

I'm looking forward to marking the Moral Education test you took today. Let's see how many of you have learnt and understood from last term what it means to be truthful.

During math lesson, we continued to learn about fractions. Through using fraction discs with your partners, you would have learnt how to compare unit fractions and arrange them from the smallest to the biggest and from the biggest to the smallest. You would also have learnt how to do that for like fractions, and to add like fractions together.

Help yourself revise by sharing with your parents:
1) What are like fractions?
2) How do I know one unit fraction is bigger than another unit fraction?
3) How do I compare like fractions?

Here are the reminders for today:

1) Bring your thermometer to school from tomorrow onwards.

2) Write an entry in your journal titled "My June Holidays". Choose just one or two memorable happenings from the whole month of June to write about. Be as detailed as you can. Include your feelings too. Remember to leave a line after each line you write. Write at least one page and at most four pages. If you like, you may draw or paste a picture or two in your journal after you have written your entry. Submit your journal to me on Wednesday.

3) You would have received your Spelling List for this term today. Our first spelling would be on next Thursday. Start preparing! Remember that if you score full marks and become a Super Speller, you earn an ice-cream stick for your group. Every ice-cream stick counts. Let's see which group works the hardest to become the Group of July!

4) If you have not submitted a piece of holiday homework, submit it by tomorrow.

Have an enjoyable evening with your family. See you tomorrow! :)
