8 July 14 (Tuesday)

Dear children,

We applauded Isaac this afternoon when he received the HARP class champion prize from Mrs Chong. I hope we can all learn from Isaac and be diligent readers!

I saw some disappointed faces when you realised that we did not clinch the Best Read Class Award this time round. Let's aim for that again this term. We won it once before, and nothing should stop us from winning it again if all of us put in the effort to be diligent, enthusiastic readers! :)

The results of the colouring contest came as a pleasant surprise to me. All five of you who represented P2/2 JOY, namely Thaneeisha, Vanessa, Isaac, Dylan and Ezra, won prizes! Isaac, Dylan and Ezra even made it to the top five in the level! The class will be cheering for the three of you this Thursday when you receive your prizes in the hall. :)

During English lesson, we discussed about some contractions such as "isn't", "aren't", "wasn't" and "shouldn't". We also talked more about subject-verb agreement, the use of punctuation marks, as well as electric wires, trams and the pet parrot called Copycat. I'm glad we covered quite a bit of English learning today since we'll miss our English periods on Friday. From this Thursday onwards, we will try to focus a lot more on improving your composition writing. You will review what you have written last term and pick up some new skills to help you become an even better writer. Look forward! :)

Most of you did fine for your typing test with Mr Edwin. Although the typing test is over, do continue to practise your typing skill as often as you can. In today's world, it is very, very important that you are able to type fast and type accurately.

Here are today's reminders:

1) If I have informed you to improve on your attire during the check today, please work on it. Be ready by tomorrow.

2) If you received an envelope from me regarding P1 registration for your younger brother or sister, please pass the envelope to your parents.

3) Remember your spelling and dictation on Thursday. Prepare well, be a Super Speller and earn some ice-cream sticks for your group! :)

4) You will be having your fourth drama lesson with Ms Ana tomorrow. If you took home your script, remember to bring it back tomorrow. Be ready to improve your drama skills!

5) Prepare the following materials to bring for art lesson on Thursday:
-2 pieces of drawing paper
-Poster paint
-Paintbrushes
-Palette
-Old newspapers (for laying on the table)
-Cup (to contain water)
-Apron (to protect your uniform)
-Glue
-Rag (for drying your brushes and cleaning up)

Have a restful evening with your family. See you tomorrow! :)
