Dear children,
We continued on the topic of division today by reading the book "The Doorbell Rang". From the story, we saw how the number of cookies each child would receive became smaller and smaller when more and more children rang the doorbell to join them in sharing. We also worked on 2 other activities in our booklets. One got us to group chairs in different number of rows while the other needed us to use G.I.T to figure out the link between division and multiplication.
Do you remember what G.I.T stands for?
G: Number of groups
I: Number of items in each group
T: Total number of items
Again, I saw a few of you struggling with division today because you forgot your multiplication. I say this again -- revise your times tables! There is no other way out but to know your multiplication, so work hard on that!
We read "The Chinese Opera Games" again today and discussed how it related to our theme of friendship for the next few weeks. Each of you also made a beautiful hand cut-out listing three good friends and two friends you would like to know better. I'm looking forward to taking a really good look at them. :)
By now, you would already know who your Secret Pal is. Remember to keep it a secret till Revelation Day! You can start writing your little notes to put into your Secret Pal's pigeon hole when no one is looking.
I just logged on to the KooBits Champion Class Leader Board to check on your progress and I see that our class has scored even higher points, just as some of you were telling me excitedly this afternoon!
I also went into the Math League Leader Board and saw many of your names there:
Seth is 2nd on the Champions League.
Brian is 2nd on the Professional League.
Dawn is 3rd on the Novice League. I also saw Jenna, Zhi Zong and Natalie's name on this list.
Janine is 1st on the Beginners League. Many of your names are on that list too.
I am very pleased that so many of you are diligently working every day to improve your math skills. Keep it up!
For the art lesson on Friday, you will need to bring the following items for painting a picture:
1) A piece of drawing paper
2) 2B pencil
3) Poster paint (at least red, yellow and blue)
4) Paintbrushes
5) A container to contain some water for painting
6) Some newspapers to keep the paint off your tabletop
7) An apron to keep the paint off your uniform
7) An apron to keep the paint off your uniform
I'm telling you in advance so that you'll have a bit more time to prepare.
Here's today's reminder:
1) If you have not passed your I-Read book to your friend, please do so before Silent Reading time tomorrow.
See you tomorrow! :)

You're welcome, Jenna. I hope this blog helps you to recall our journey of learning together. At the end of the year, when we read through all the entries again, we'll look back at all the things we've been through together! :)
