Dear children,
We applauded Joshua and Thaneeisha when they received the HARP class champion prize in the hall this afternoon. I hope we can all learn from Thaneeisha and Joshua and be diligent readers! :)
We began our time together today with David sharing with us some interesting information he read about food webs. I hope you learnt something from what he shared. Here's the food web that he showed us:
What have you learnt from all that David shared? Write a comment below to let him know! :)
We then discussed some non-action verbs such as "feel", "think" and "wait". They are a little different from the action verbs we usually come across (like walk, dance, and run) because we cannot really see the actions of feeling, thinking or waiting like we can see walking, dancing and running. However, do keep in mind that those are verbs too.
We also talked about the past tense of some verbs such as "begin", "sleep", "find", "tell", "dry" and "shut". For words like them, we cannot get their past tense forms by adding "-ed" behind, so we call them "irregular verbs". We learnt that there are no words like "begined", "sleeped", "finded", "telled", "dryed" and "shuted". Instead, we have "began", "slept", "found", "told", "dried" and "shut". Keep that in mind! ;)
We then went through an editing practice, worked on a comprehension exercise, and completed a phonics practice. Do you remember when the letter ‘c’ usually makes the /s/ sound? Share that rule you learnt with your family by giving them some examples!
After a very quick revision, you went on to complete an English Practice Test to prepare yourself for next Wednesday's English Language Test. Then, we began to go through some of the questions in the Practice Test. We will try to finish with the paper tomorrow so that you can receive it back from me on Thursday to revise during the long weekend.
These are today's reminders:
1) You will be having your final drama lesson and rehearsal with Ms Ana tomorrow. Treasure it and take it seriously. We want to give our best for our audience on 8 August.
2) Let's remember to keep ourselves healthy. Quite a number of us have fallen sick recently. Drink more water, eat healthily, wash your hands often, and make sure you have enough sleep.
See you tomorrow! :)
Thanks for the blog entry,
