29 Jan 2014 (Wednesday)

Dear children,

It was such a fruitful day with you today! :)

We completed three activities for math and learnt how to add 3-digit numbers to 3-digit numbers and subtract 3-digit numbers from 3-digit numbers. We also learnt to spot some mistakes in addition and subtraction. Math is a lot about being accurate. I've marked the booklets and I'm amazed to see that most of you submitted perfect work! Besides being accurate, math is also a lot about speed. I'm very glad that you were able to keep to the time limit I gave you when working on the math activities. Well done! That's what we can achieve when we are all focused.

We also managed to complete three exercises in our Chicken Rice booklets for English. Using the Magic Finger, we talked about some vocabulary used in the big book and then used these words to complete some sentences. We then did a grammar cloze exercise before learning to join some sentences with the conjunction 'when'.

When it was time for art, we completed a quiz to round up the previous unit. We then dived into a new unit -- "What a fun world!". We discussed different pictures made up of basic shapes like triangles, rectangles, circles, kites and squares. I'm sure you are all excited to create your own picture next week! :)

Here are some reminders:
1) If you have not played yesterday's math game, please play it soon and tell me your score by commenting on yesterday's blog entry. The deadline is 10 a.m. tomorrow.
2) You are encouraged to wear your ethnic attire tomorrow for the Chinese New Year celebrations if you have one. If not, come in your school uniform.

Have a restful evening with your family. See you for the Chinese New Year celebrations tomorrow! :)
