17 Jan 2014 (Friday)

Dear children,

We learnt to identify odd and even numbers today through reading "Even Steven and Odd Todd" and partnering multi-link cubes. If someone asks you whether the number 54768391029485021 is odd or even, what would you say? How would you explain? You should be able to answer this with confidence! ;)

We also spent quite some time going through the corrections for the past few activities that we did. I'm confident that by now, most of you should be able to independently use all the skills we have learnt in Unit 1. I'm happy to see that most of you are learning very well, but there are two big problems in some of your work -- untidiness and carelessness. When I was in Primary Two, I never liked doing corrections, so I always aimed to submit neat, perfect work. Aim for that too! :)

You are now very well prepared to complete the two other math booklets for this unit on your own. I will be away for a course on Monday, so your task is to complete those 2 booklets. I want you to separate your tables and work on the 2 booklets on your own. You are not allowed to ask someone else for help unless you were absent for this week's math lessons. The relief teacher will help me make sure that each one of you is doing your work by yourself. She will only guide the few of you who missed my lessons and could not catch up. I will be back on Monday evening to collect your math booklets from the relief teacher to mark. I hope to see excellent, neat work with no careless mistakes. Each perfect booklet will earn 5 ice-cream sticks for your group. :)

Here's the score update for this week:

Have an enjoyable weekend with your family! :)

    1. I am glad to hear that from you, Ezra!

Do you know that the Ezra in the Bible was a scribe? In ancient times, long before there was printing, scribes copied very long documents by hand. They had to have very neat handwriting and be able to copy accurately before they could become scribes.

I believe the Ezra of 2/2 can submit accurate work with very neat handwriting too! :)
